According to a Fact check conducted by Snopes, the photos of the pink dolphin spotted off the North Carolina coast were found to be 99 per cent AI-generated. It has also come to light that a person named Alex Lex on Facebook created the photos of the pink dolphin possibly using some AI tool.

In one post, Alex apologized for sharing and flooding people's Facebook feeds with posts about the pink dolphin.
