Mumbai, April 21: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Saturday cleared the air over fake news being circulated that commercial banks would have a 5-day week. The Central Bank said it has not issued any direction with regard to a five-day a week working for commercial banks and urged people not to fall a prey to such fake reports. "It has been reported in certain sections of the media that commercial banks would have a 5-day week in terms of RBI instructions. It is clarified that this information is not factually correct", the RBI said in its release. Bank Holidays in April 2019: Ram Navami, Mahavir Jayanti & Good Friday Offs to Affect Banking Operations This Month. 

At present, branches of commercial banks observe holiday only on second and fourth Saturday of a month apart from Sunday. Meanwhile, the remaining Saturdays are a full working hour for all the banks.
