In the tweet, Roy claimed that the video was from Delhi's Zafarabad. He also alleged that the old man was thrashed by Muslims. However, Boom Live, a fact-checking website has denied any communal claim and said that the incident was a result of personal enmity. "See what Muslim youth are doing to this old man its in Delhi Zafarabad for shouting Bharat Mata ki Jai. Why is this not being shown by Media.? Why is this not being made viral by true Indians. Please wake up. Jai hind," Meghalaya governor claimed in a tweet.

The one minute 45 seconds clip shows old man shouting "Chowkidar Chor Hai, Main bhi ek chowkidar hu, Bharat Mata Ki Jai". Following which, five men gather around and beat him.
According to Boom Live, the viral video is from Rajasthan's Bhilwara. Local police had denied any communal or political angle in the incident and said that five people have been arrested in the incident that took place on October 15 this year. The accused has been identified as Bhagwan Das, Majoor Sheikh, Manoj, Hemant Nathani, and Irfan.
The victim, who was assaulted, has been suffering from mental illness, police said. "The victim used to set up a thela (goods stall) in the same chowk and had previously argued and passed remarks with other traders in the market," Bhilwara ASP Rajesh Beena told to the fact-checking website.
