Since morning Indians are mourning the loss of veteran actress Sridevi, who had an untimely death of cardiac arrest in Dubai. The entire film fraternity along with the politicians are expressing their grief and it is indeed a black day for the film industry. But in our obsession with glamour and glitz, we tend to ignore the much important army soldiers. Military officers have to constantly deal with losses of their dear ones. Recently Wing Commander D Vats lost his life in an unfortunate air-crash accident. His wife, Major Kumud Dogra attended the funeral of her husband with her 5-day old child in tow. And we think she deserves more respect for showing that kind of courage!

A picture had been shared on the internet which showed the commander's wife a major herself, walking up to the funeral dressed in a proper uniform, carrying their baby girl in her arms. Her husband, a pilot of the Indian Air Force along with another pilot was killed after a microlight helicopter crashed while they were travelling in Majuli island on February 15. When the wreckage of the aircraft was located, it was completely burnt beyond recognition.

Dogra has shown she is a strong woman and Twitter was full of praises for her courage. It was a devastating sight and many were left teary-eyed but not Dogra. She walked with her head high in her uniform and we are so proud of her!

Check out Kumud Dogra's picture attending her husband funeral:

Sometimes courage is indeed difficult but important

We need such strong women like her!

The entire family deserves a salute, more so for Kumud Dogra. We are sure she will raise her child just as strong like her. The officer did not even get to see his newborn child but the mother ensured, she was present at the last rites of her father.

We do not deny giving the attention to a legendary superstar. It is indeed a saddening demise. But at the same time, we need to share stories of Majors like Kumud Dogra, who make our daily lives safer. A lot of soldiers lose their lives while protecting our country, but we, unfortunately, do not read of them, two days later. Yes, both the fields of entertainment and army forces are not even close, but we need to give the same attention and prove as a strength and support to many like Kumud Dogra and her family!
