Mumbai, October 12: Erica Robin, a 24-year-old model from Karachi, has made history by becoming the first-ever Pakistani to represent the country at the Miss Universe pageant. The pageant will be held in El Salvador next month. Erica Robin won the Miss Universe Pakistan title last week and is now preparing to compete in the global beauty pageant. However, Robin is facing a major backlash concerning her participation.

As per the media reports, Robin's selection to represent the country at the Miss Universe pageant has irked many politicians and religious leaders in Pakistan. Taqi Usmani, a religious scholar, disapproved of the beauty pageant and demanded that the government take action against those who organized it. Pakistani Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan of the Jamaat-e-Islami party also expressed his disapproval by tweeting, “Who are the organizers of this beauty pageant in Pakistan? In a conversation with WION, Erica Robin expressed her enthusiasm to represent Pakistan while voicing her confusion about the backlash. "It feels great to represent Pakistan. But I don't understand where the backlash is coming from. I think it is this idea that I would be parading in a swimsuit in a room full of men," said Robin.
