The International Earth Day was started by the United Nations to promote harmony with nature and improve mankind's effect on the planet. Each year there is a different theme to the celebrations. This year's theme is 'End Plastic Pollution' which is the need of the hour. Search giant Google too spread the same message through their Google Doodle. It is essential our duty as inhabitants of the planet to take steps for saving the planet. Be it reducing the use of plastic or adopting ways for an eco-friendly lifestyle, we all need to do our bit for the environment. Patnaik's sand art also gives a reminder of how the pollution is affecting the marine life. It is high time we take the cause of rising pollution seriously and start acting upon it.
