Vape aka e-cigarettes has become extremely popular these days, even though it has a lot of controversies surrounding it. Various research has proved that while e-cigarettes are a better alternative than regular cigarettes but cannot be considered 'safe'. However, recently a shocking case that appeared shows that e-cigarettes can be unsafe for other reasons as well. According to reports by metro, a vape pen's battery exploded in the pocket of a British man named, Jason Curmi who is 46-year -old, which was placed dangerously just two inches away from his penis. Curmi suffered from a severe burn and said that his penis could have been injured severely since the explosion was so close to his genitals.

According to reports by metro, Curmi began to vape about three months ago after he gave up cigarettes to manage his nicotine cravings and while he was at work one day something warm felt to him in his pockets and seconds after that the device exploded.

While it is a very rare scenario for the vape battery to explode but it is extremely dangerous. Here are a few safety precautions that you must keep in mind to avoid such accidents:

  1. Avoid overcharging the batteries of the vape pen by leaving it plugged into the charger overnight or otherwise.
  2. Try as much as possible to keep batteries away from other metals.
  3. Replace damaged or wet batteries, also discontinue the use of it if you find any issue or something unusual with the mechanics of the vape
  4. Use only the designated charger of the e-cigarette

While people are using e-cigarettes to get rid of the habit of smoking tobacco, do not confuse vaping to be extremely safe. According to a research, E-cigarettes induce toxicological effects that can raise the cancer risk, 'Electronic cigarettes (e-cigs) are devices designed to deliver nicotine in a vaping solution rather than smoke and without tobacco combustion. Perceived as a safer alternative to conventional cigarettes, e-cigs are aggressively marketed as lifestyle-choice consumables, thanks to few restrictions and a lack of regulatory guidelines. E-cigs have also gained popularity among never-smokers and teenagers, becoming an emergent public health issue. Despite the burgeoning worldwide consumption of e-cigs, their safety remains largely unproven and it is unknown whether these devices cause in vivo toxicological effects that could contribute to cancer.'
