While shooting for a new BBC documentary series, Spy in the Pod the researchers found that dolphins passed the pufferfish among them. According to experts, the toxins that emerge from the pufferfish give a high or a 'trance-like state' for these aquatic animals. Pufferfish emit these toxins for their own defence but now it seems that dolphins love the effect of that on themselves. Dolphins thus nudge the fish with their snouts and enjoy the toxins that are released by it. Soon as the fact was shared on Twitter, netizens were amused too. Dolphins use Pufferfish to get high. Pufferfish produce a potent defensive chemical, which they eject when threatened. In small enough doses, the toxin seems to induce "a trance-like state" in dolphins

The footage even saw the dolphins passing on the pufferfish between their pod. A zoologist and series producer of the series Rob Pilley said that it was the first time dolphins had been filmed behaving this way. Clearly, the dolphins were happily stoned on the toxins.
