Ashley Ober was flying from the busy John F Kennedy International Aiport in New York all by herself for the first time. Born deaf, the 16-year-old wanted to fly alone without troubling her mother. The teenager was nervous, but Ashley still wanted to take the step. She bid goodbye to her mother and strutted to the terminal, but unconvinced Loretta Ober stood outside the airport looking at her phone, expecting a call any moment. Loretta had dropped her at Washington International Airport in Baltimore. As she waited, she received a picture of a note written that a flight attendant gave Ashley. The note not only made Ashley feel relaxed, but calmed her mother too. While the incident happened earlier this month, picture of the note is going viral now.

Ashley said through an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter, "I feel nervous because … what if I miss my flight or I don't know where to go if I transfer. I mean JFK is such a big airport, so I didn't know where to go." But she wanted to be independent also." Talking about the note she received, Ashley said, "I put it in my bag. I still have it. I am going to cherish that." Man Stands 6 Hours on Flight to Let His Wife Sleep, Netizens Slam His Way of Showing Love (Check Viral Tweet)

Impressed by the flight attendant's note, Loretta shared a photo of the note on social media. She posted it with the caption, "My daughter who is Deaf took a flight by herself! The attendant handed her this note on the plane! Delta makes it amazing!"

In the coming months, Delta flight attendants and gate agents will have the option to wear a pin that will signify they are fluent in ASL. Ashley said that the note was quite impressive, not only for her, but for the deaf community. Ashley said, "It's important so they can feel involved and not uncomfortable. Everyone should be involved."
