Mumbai, August 29: A Turkish-Dutch airline is set to offer an 'only adult zone' on flights for passengers travelling without children between Amsterdam and Curaçao in an effort to reduce the disturbance caused by children's noise. The 'only adult zones' will be available on Turkish-Dutch Corendon Airlines flights between Amsterdam and Curaçao beginning November 3.
A translated version of the airline's news release said that "this area on the aircraft is intended for travellers travelling without children and for business travellers who want to work in a quiet environment." The airline said that these areas will benefit parents as well since they will have less to worry about when their child is a little busy or crying and how other passengers may respond.
Only the front portion of the aircraft, which has 93 ordinary seats and nine extra-large seats with extra legroom, will have adult zones, according to the airline. With the aid of walls and curtains, the area will be "physically separated" from the rest of the aircraft, resulting in "a shielded environment that contributes to a quiet and relaxed flight." Extra-large seats will cost an additional 100 euros, or approximately $108 for a one-way ticket, while seats in the adult-only area will cost an additional 45 euros, or just under $49 for a one-way ticket. The airline said passengers must be at least 16 years old to purchase the seats.
