Iconic 80’s and 90’s model, Cindy Crawford, 52, was among the most popular supermodels of her time and a ubiquitous presence on magazine covers, fashion campaigns and runways. A mother to budding fashion superstars Kaia, 16 and Presley Gerber, 18, Cindy recently looked back at her time in the industry spotlight and recalled some of the things she regrets. In a candid interview with Town & Country, Cindy opens about managing the careers of her kids and her future in the industry, as well as some bumps in her supermodel past.

“Look, I’ve done nude photos, lots. The only ones I regretted were the ones that I kind of got talked into. I don’t want my children to ever look back and think, ‘Gosh, I wish I hadn’t done that’. I want to empower them to just say, ‘I’, outta [sic] here’,” Crawford told Town & Country in the May issue of the magazine. The ‘model matriarch’ opens about her kids starting to make a name for themselves in the industry and how she parents them as both a mother and an experienced model. ‘I’m really lucky, because I don’t have a #MeToo story,” Crawford says. “As far as being a mother of two young people going into fashion, of course I worry. But let’s be honest. My kids are blessed in that business because they aren’t coming in as unknowns. People know that I will come after them if they mess with my kids.”

The 52-year-old is asked about in the world that is obsessed with external beauty, how has she taught her kids moral values? To which, Cindy replies, “I didn’t find that hard to do at all, actually. Kids don’t always listen, but they are always watching what you do. If you’re polite to people, they learn to be polite. If you make family time a priority, they don’t even question spending time together. If I’m constantly berating myself in front of them – I look old, I have more wrinkles every year, I can’t have that dessert because I’ll get fat – then they learn to do the same thing. You lead by example.”

Cindy is not only a great model, but she is also a wonderful mother. She maintains close relationship with her kids, especially with daughter Kaia, whom she calls her mini-me, who has taken the fashion industry by storm. The 16-year-old recently made headlines after walking in more than 22 shows during the Fashion Week season in Milan.
