Parimala, 33-year-old was living alone in Nammalvarpet after her husband left her. Her son, Karthik was studying at boarding school in Mylapore. Parimala was murdered at the end of last month by a boy living in the same building where she was living. M. Balamurugan was investigating the case when he found out about her 12-year-old son. The boy was in the police station, clueless about what had happened to his mother. He went to the police station and consoled the boy. He assured that the police will help in all the ways possible. The boy got a new family to call his own in the police officer literally. Mr Balamurugan, a father of two children, a daughter and son, discussed with his wife and decided to adopt Karthik into their family. Without further delay, he gave an undertaking in Karthik's school as his guardian. "The object of my gesture was that the boy should not be misled and not indulge in a tit-for-tat act. We should ensure the future of boy and help him lead a good life in society," Mr Balamurugan was quoted to a report in The Hindu. Very soon, he would also adopt the boy officially through the legal process. Mr Balamurugan's gesture is really heart-warming and gives a positive message of humanitarianism.
