Chandrayaan 2, India’s second lunar mission was launched successfully on Monday from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh at 2.43 pm. The much ambitious mission to the moon was supposed to take place on July 15 but was aborted due to a technical snag just an hour before the take-off. The countdown for this lunar mission began last evening and with the rocket 'Baahubali' carrying the Chandrayaan 2 spacecraft, netizens joined along in cheering for the big mission. The Rs 978-crore lunar mission carried the heavy-lift rocket GSLV MkIII-M1 which had an Orbiter, Lander and a Rover. It is expected to take 54 days to accomplish the mission of landing on the surface of the moon. This mission makes India the fifth country to land on the lunar surface, after Russia, the US, Japan and China. It is indeed a moment of pride for the country and people are expressing it on social media. People are posting pictures and videos of the lift-off on their social media accounts, expressing the sheer pride of this mammoth achievement.
