Taking benefit of the upcoming Raksha Bandhan, a sweet shop in Gujarat's Surat is selling sweets worth rupees 9000 per kilogram. But these are not regular sweets and has real gold on them, which are quite common in Surat. These expensive sweets are covered with gold leaf and are sold at a starting price of Rs 300 to Rs 350 per kg in the market. But with the approaching festive season, the prices are soaring high.

A sweet shop in Surat is selling sweets with gold work on them. Nobody is complaining about the high prices and in fact, the shop has been receiving quite a good response to their expensive sweets. A shop named 24 Carats Mithai Magic came up with the 'goldwork' idea and being appreciated by the customers. They are known as 'Gold Sweets' and has climbed the top of the shop's menu. During Raksha Bandhan sisters tie Rakhi on their brother's wrist and give them sweets and in return pamper them with gifts. With the shop's Gold Sweets becoming popular, sisters who are prepping for the festival are ordering these sweets for their brothers.

Gold is not just an ornamental addition on the sweet, but according to the shop it is good for health also because of which people are buying it. Raksha Bandhan is widely celebrated in India celebrating the bond between a brother and sister. The festival is celebrated on the full moon day of the lunar month, Shravana. This year the festival falls on August 26, 2018.
