Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel to Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, These Marvel Female Superheroes Reimagined As Football Players Is Fantabulous! See Pics

We are still waiting for an-all female Marvel superheroes flick, but thanks to illustrator and comics lover Sebastien Minatchy, the girls' football team featuring MCU heroines is ready. Cashing on the 2018 FIFA World Cup fever, the digital artist has created a string of artworks in which he has reimagined the leading Marvel female characters as footballers, and the result is fantabulous. Leading the fan-made football squad is Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)’s upcoming superheroine – Brie Larson as Captain Marvel aka Carol Danvers. Helping her win the match is Zoe Saldana’s Gamora, Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow among others. But the highlight of this artwork is Baby Groot as the cutest referee in the whole wide world. Both DC and Marvel comics boast of having iconic female characters, but it is the latter who have outraced the other in presenting them more substantially on the silver screen. Yes, we are not ignoring Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman act but let’s be honest, MCU has given us sooo many more powerful superheroines. From Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Widow in Iron Man, Captain America and the Avengers to Shuri in Black Panther, there is no shortage of memorable heroines, unlike DC Universe’s Wonder Woman. And, with the release of Captain Marvel next year, MCU will have given their female superhero a stand-alone feature film.

The reason why we got into this DC vs Marvel mode is because of the list of amazing artworks depicting actresses as powerful MCU characters boasting of superpowers and abilities. Here take a look at all of them forming probably the undefeatable football team on the planet!

So, these were the eight heroines from Marvel and my favourites are Jaimie Alexander's Lady Sif from Thor and Zoe Saldana's Gamora from Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Infinity War. Amongst the few names Sebastien Minatchy missed out on making their footballer avatar are Karen Gillan as Nebula and Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie. We would love the illustrator to release a second part of this re-imagined series.
