An 11-year-old schoolboy from Guwahati in Assam put his life in danger to save his mother and aunt who were drowning in a river. Kamal Kishore Das had safely reached the bank when he realised that his mom was not with him. The braveheart then jumped into the overflowing Brahmaputra river thrice within 20 minutes to save the women. Das did not end there, he then saw a woman in burqa along with her child drowning in water, unfortunately, he could not save them.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh took to Twitter lauding the young boy's act. Singh tweeted saying, "I salute the courage and bravery of this 11-year-old boy from Assam who risked his life thrice to save precious lives. Well done Kamal Kishore! You are indeed a braveheart."

Here is the tweet:

The Times of India quoted Kamal as saying, "I had just pulled out my mother and my aunt when I saw a woman in burqa and a child in her arms struggling to stay afloat. I jumped again into the water and pulled both of them to the concrete slabs of the pillars of a water reservoir on the river. Unfortunately, the child slipped into the water from the woman's hands and was swept away by the river. The woman too jumped into the river and I saw her being swept away into the river before I could take another jump."
