A giant bauble that washed up on the banks of River Thames caused massive trouble as people thought it to be a bomb. People in Wapping, east London were evacuated after it was mistaken for an explosive. The incident even alerted the police who arrived at the scene to inspect the bomb. Tower Hamlets Police took to Twitter joking about the incident with an emoji of Santa Claus. tweeted saying, "Officers were called to Wapping to investigate a possible unexploded device that had been washed up on the shore. Luckily, upon closer inspection, it is a giant glittery Christmas bauble!" Hackney Police retweeted the post saying, "That is a Wapping great bauble. Fortunately not as given, but shows as our training teach us to expect the unexpected."

Until the object was dealt with, students from Kingston University were evacuated from the campus. The incident caused widespread worry as it came a few days after an unexploded World War Two bomb was discovered in Kingston-upon-Thames. The tweet went viral with people joking, "I bet they thought all their Christmases had come at once!" Bomb scares have multiple times in the past caused panic among people in different places. Earlier this year, in Mumbai, a bomb-like objected created panic among residents of Borivali. While it looked like a potential bomb, the police declared it as a toy.
