A 24-year-old Michigan woman has been charged of assault after she allegedly bit part of a Chinese restaurant owner’s ear off because she wasn’t happy with her order. Jane Anderson was upset about her order at China 1 restaurant in Mount Clemens on Thursday night, although it is unclear what she was angry about. She was talking to the owners, husband and wife, and their son was translating it in English for his parents. But Jane’s frustration grew so much that she pushed the son, attacked the wife and bit off the man’s ear.
Due to language barrier, the son of the owner and his wife, described by a witness to be around 10 to 11 years old was translating Jane’s complaints. According to reports, Jane allegedly pushed the son to the ground and threw her food to the floor. She then assaulted the woman who owned the restaurant. The woman’s husband reportedly stepped in to defend his wife, when Jane allegedly bit his ear, detaching a part of it, police said.
The son dialled 911 and it was released by WXYZ: “There’s a violent woman over here hitting my mom. She also hit me,” the owner’s son was heard saying. When the Macomb County Sheriff deputies arrived at the location, they found the owner with his ear partially bitten off and a woman with a large bump on her forehead. Both were treated for injuries and Jane was taken to Macomb County Jail.
Authorities then learned that Jane had a small child at home who she left unsupervised. Police turned the child over to a responsible adult. Jane is charged with two counts of assault, one a 10-year felony and another a 93-day misdemeanour. She was arraigned in Clinton Township’s 41B District Court and given a 20,000 dollars cash surety bond. She will return to court on July 11.
