The 72-year-old singer and actress Bette Midler took to Twitter on Thursday with an offensive tweet against US First Lady Melania Trump. The Grammy winning singer received backlash on social media after sharing an old modelling photo of the former model which she did for British GQ back in 2000. But it was not what she captioned the picture that angered netizens but the hashtag she used. While some found it disgraceful, there were some who supported Midler’s comment. Twitterati Slammed Bette Midler for Her Controversial Statement
What is wrong with you that you find it acceptable to bully someone for absolutely no reason? What has she done to warrant your wrath? You have a dark soul. Sorry for your daughter who must have to endure your penchant for knocking down women. Nice message....

So juvenile @BetteMidler , and so disappointing. She was earning a living, like a lot women, and men, do. Not to mention, that your comment was foul and disgusting.

I love you and loathe that whole family but no. Just no. Pick apart her dangerous actions, not her body/use thereof.
Women deserve better than this.

This is not the first time Midler has criticised Trump on Twitter. Earlier Midler had made a controversial tweet when she called women ‘the N-word of the World’ for which she apologised later. Neither Trump or Midler has made any further comment.
