A major blunder was found in a recent marketing campaign by Mattel, the renowned toy manufacturer behind Barbie and Hot Wheels. The company encountered a hurdle when the major error was discovered on the packaging of their new ‘Wicked’ dolls line. The musical adaptation of the film Wicked, starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, is all set to release on November 22 in the US. The ‘Wicked’ dolls were created ahead of it's release and meant to promote the musical fantasy film. Unfortunately, the dolls featured a misprinted website link that directed customers to a porn website with a similar domain name instead of the official movie's website link. The issue came to light when social media users noticed the discrepancy and reported it. Wicked Trailer: Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo Brew Magic in This Upcoming Musical Co-Starring Michelle Yeoh (Watch Video).

Mattel crafted a stunning collection of dolls inspired by the characters of Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo for the upcoming film Wicked. The dolls were supposed to have the film’s website, which is wickedmovie.com on them. However, the dolls were printed with the website wicked.com, which is an adult website. Images and videos highlighting this error quickly went viral online. Given that Mattels’ primary audience is children, the error ended up being an embarrassing situation for the company. As soon as Mattel became aware of the situation, they issued an apology and emphasised their deep regret for the error. Mattel also recommended parents who had already bought their products to either dispose of the misprinted packaging or cover the incorrect link. Packaging Blunder: Mattel’s Wicked Dolls Boxes List Porn Site URL Instead of Official Film Link As Merchandise Hits Shelves.
