Bangkok trended at the top of Twitter late night on Saturday, after social media users alleged that senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has embarked upon a foreign trip days ahead of the upcoming assembly polls. Several verified handles on the microblogging site said the Gandhi scion left for Bangkok via an Air Vistara flight earlier in the day. Among the claimants included BJP's Delhi spokesperson Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga, the BJP IT Cell and a few noted journalists of India. Rahul Gandhi, who stepped down as the Congress president following the devastating loss in Lok Sabha elections 2019, continues to be among the top leaders to hit the party's campaign trail. He has been listed among the star campaigners in both Haryana and Maharashtra, and is scheduled to address rallies and lead roadshows between October 10-19. Both the states are slated for a single-phase elections on October 21. The results would be declared on October 24, when the counting votes has been scheduled by the Election Commission.
