A baby boy was born at 1,400 feet on a Coastguard helicopter after a pregnant woman went into labour. The Coastguard helicopter was asked by the South West Ambulance Service to help the woman as there was no midwife in the Isles of Scilly the woman was visiting. With no other assistance, the mother-to-be and her partner were being flown to a mainland hospital when the woman delivered. The baby was born on the helicopter over Penzance in Cornwall, United Kingdom.

After the Newquay Coastguard helicopter was informed about the emergency, they along with a midwife flew to St Mary's Airport, picked up the couple and was going to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro when the woman delivered. Baby Girl Born in Chick-Fil-A Outlet; American Fast Food Chain Promises Free Lifetime Food and a Future Job!

Maritime & Coastguard tweeted saying, "Awwww! Gorgeous baby boy born on board our #Newquay #Coastguard helicopter on Saturday night on way from #IslesofScilly to #Treliske Mum and baby doing well. So thrilled! Congratulations to his mum and dad from all of us at #HMCoastguard #worldhelicopterday Pic Greg Caygill." The baby boy is healthy and the mother and child are both doing fine.

Here is the tweet:

Evening Standard quoted Jonathan Mustard, aeronautical operations controller for HM Coastguard as saying, "This is the second time that a baby has been born on board a Coastguard helicopter. The last one was born over Lunna Holm, Shetland in December 2012. We are absolutely thrilled and delighted to have played a part in the birth and are pleased that mum and baby are doing well. It's rare to hear that our helicopter launched with seven people on board but was preparing to land with eight. Congratulations mum and dad."
