Japan resumed its cultural practice of commercial whaling after a three-decade hiatus this week. Whaling ships set out to sail on Monday and came back with their first catches. Five vessels from the whaling community left the Kushiro port and people from the community celebrated with joy. And they plan a total catch of 227 whales until late December! The shocking practice has angered conservationists all over. The country clearly did not mind the global outage and went ahead to carry on with the cruel practice. Social media is once again angered with the decision and is called to boycott everything from Japan. Japan Fisherman Catch First Whales As Commercial Hunts Resume After 30 Years.

Activists and anti-whaling communities kept slamming the practice. The whales are hunted for meat, fat, oil and scientific research. But the International Whaling Commission (IWC) proposed a ban on the practice in 1986. The dangerous practice already threatens the whale populations and their killing is just unacceptable. However, Japan quit from the International Whaling Commission, so it could carry on commercial hunting in their territorial waters. From Monday, July 1, the first ships set sail and 2 minke whales were killed. People have expressed their disappointment at this inhumane practice.

Boycott Japanese Goods

Boycott Japan!

Barbarous!

What is the need?

Some cancelled their trips too

Everyone questioned what is the need, to begin with, such a horrific practice again. The echoes of boycott Japan are seen on social timelines. People also questioned how a smart country like them could resort to such murderous practice, while someone else said they deserve the tsunamis! It is really shameful to see that at a time when the problem of climate change is looming over all of us collectively, the country has chosen to go ahead with horrendous practice.
