Apple Park, the headquarters of Apple Inc., a massive donut-shaped building that finished its work last year is believed to be an architectural marvel. While the 'spaceship-style' building has been turning heads ever since it opened, it is currently grabbing attention for the wrong reasons. Employees in Apple Park are dialing 911 after walking into glass door and windows. The building is mostly made from floor to ceiling by glass panels giving people an optical illusion of the doors not being there. After Apple Park opened to its employees in January, they discovered a huge problem. In the first few days, three people suffered injuries running into glass entrances.
According to a Bloomberg report, three people from Apple Park called 911 after suffering injuries leading to bleeding. Some put up stickers on the windows to make it visible but was later removed. Fortunately, none of the injuries were grave or had major impacts. Apple Park is a USD 5 billion four-storey glass and metal building designed by byNormanl Foster. The glass used in the building has been specially treated to achieve an exact level of transparency and whiteness.
Steve Jobs had once mentioned that the Apple Campus was his vision which could accommodate 12,000 people. One thing that Jobs wanted, in particular, was maximum use of solar panels to reduce hazards to the environment. The building is designed in such a way that the employees can feel the weather on a sunny day. Reportedly, Apple Park does not require heating or air conditioning as it is properly ventilated. The building's airflow has been planned in such a way that it breathes through the undersides of the canopies.
