Anissia Batra Case: Friends and Family Create Social Media Page Demanding ‘Justice for Anissia’

A female flight attendant, Anissia Batra allegedly committed suicide in South Delhi's Panchsheel Park earlier this month. While police investigation in this incident continues, friends and relatives of the 39-year-old have a launched social media pages 'Justice for Anissia' on Facebook and Twitter demanding justice to the victim. The Facebook page created on July 15, has over 2,700 likes and more than 2,800 followers.

The page frequently puts up updates of the case urging people to join them in demanding justice for Anissia. The creators of the social media pages have also started a petition on Change.org demanding justice for the deceased. Anissia Batra who worked with a German airline, allegedly jumped from the terrace of her house last week. The victim's family has alleged that her husband Mayank Singhvi used to physically abuse her.

Anissia's family also alleged that she had sold off a flat in Vasant Vihar which led to more friction between them. The couple had been married for over two years. They have also accused Singhvi's parents of harassing their daughter demanding dowry. Reports also state that the victim was upset after finding out about her husband's past relationships.

Singhvi was arrested on Monday, produced in a city court and sent to judicial custody for 14 days. Actor and TV personality Ranvijay Singh had shared the petition urging people to sign it and support the cause.

Before killing herself, the victim had sent a message to her husband that 'he would see her dead face' the police said. Cops investigating the case said that they have seized phones of her husband and the victim and are checking call records and messages.  Singhvi who is a software engineer in Gurgaon told the police that they had regular fights as there were "compatibility issues". The police said that he earned around Rs four crore per year and gifted a BWW on her birthday.
