Kids born today have the advantage or disadvantage of being surrounded by technology and gadgets well before they can start talking. In no time two-year-olds learn how to operate a smartphone or tablet or other devices. And not surprisingly in today's generation, a couple from the United Kingdom said that their one-year-old child's first word was Alexa. The baby said 'Alexa' to an Amazon Echo device way before saying other words that toddlers start with.

New York Post quoted parents Lottie Ledger and Mark Brady as saying, "One day he managed it. We thought it was funny at first so we encouraged it. He actually said Alexa before he said, Mum or Dad." Reportedly, the child, Joe, interacted with the device at a grandparent's house. Ledger said, "It was one of the few things he could get a reaction from at that time. Alexa would say, 'Sorry, I didn't get that'."

This is not the first time a child said 'Alexa' or conversed with one. A lot of parents have proudly uploaded videos of babies talking to Alexa on multiple social networking sites. Most videos show children being surprised and excited at the fact that a device to answering them. Hilariously some show how Alexa mishears kids and plays something completely out of context.

Understanding that Alexa is widely used among kids, Amazon came up with Echo Dot, a device meant just for kids. This one comes with parents safeguards and has bright colours to attract children. It reads children's books and automatically filters out explicit lyrics in songs.
