An Alaska Airlines co-pilot, Betty Pina is suing her employer under Washington state’s anti-discrimination law. The victim claims that the response of the airlines company was deficient after she reported that she was drugged and raped by her colleague. Betty recalled the incident which happened in last June at a stopover on a hotel in Minneapolis, Minnesota. According to a report of The Seattle Times, the 39-year-old woke up one morning last June to the smell of vomit which was all over the bed and on the walls. Soon she realised that she was naked from the waist down and her boss was allegedly next to her in bed.

At a stopover on Minneapolis, Minnesota, Betty along with his captain were having a general conversation at the flight crew’s designated hotel before their return flight to Washington’s Seattle. “It started with a glass of wine,” recalled Pina. She was offered the glass of wine by the Alaska pilot, with whom she was teamed for a three-day assignment. She further evoked the taste of the drink and only after few sips she could not keep her head up.

Pina was quoted in the report saying, “From there I don’t remember leaving the concierge room, the elevator ride or walking down the hallway to my room. I remember seeing a figure, somebody pulling at my right an ankle, and rolling over and trying to say ‘No’. And then, I was out again.” When she regained her senses, she found herself naked from the waist down in a bed which was wet with vomit.

Betty Pina belongs from a Seattle-area resident and is a decorated Army chopper pilot. She is suing the airline. Her lawsuit claims Alaska Airlines is liable for its captain and also subsequent failure of the authorities after she reported the incident. On the other hand, one of the Alaska Airline’s chief spokeswoman Bobbie Egan cited the matter as “an open and active investigation.” He was quoted saying, “What we can say is that we are taking this matter seriously. The safety and well-being of our employees and guests is a top priority.” The 39-year-old filed a complaint on March 14, 2o18 at the King County Superior Court, the largest trial court in Washington and waits to get justice.
