Breast milk is essential for neonatal care. It is imperative for the baby's growth and immunity-boosting abilities. Maybe that is why doctors suggested that an ailing baby in Delhi needed breast milk even though they were feeding the baby formula milk. However, the case of this baby was unique. This baby is not even a month old and is undergoing surgery in Delhi while his mom is in Leh, Ladakh. But since baby needed breast milk for immunity, bottled breast milk was flown from Leh to Delhi for free by Indigo airline.

This unique story is melting hearts online about breastmilk being flown so far so that this little one can feed on it. The baby boy was born with a complication where both the windpipe and the food pipe were connected and wasn't able to suckle on his mother. He was moved to Delhi from Leh for proper care in Max Hospital located in Delhi's Shalimar Bagh.

It all started when the doctors suggested that the baby might need the mother's breast milk as formula milk may not be enough. The mother who had a caesarean delivery couldn't travel to Delhi to breastfeed her little one and therefore this interesting idea took birth where the mother began sending her milk all the way from Leh to Delhi on the plane every day. She put it in a small container made of Rexin and Thermocool so that it could be safely transported from Leh in a flight. Father Jikmet Wangdu has been going to IGI Airport to collect the boxes that reach to him from Leh in Ladakh.

So, every morning the child's father Jikmet Wangdu waits for a flight from Leh at Delhi Airport. Wangdu has a friend who works at Leh Airport with the help of airlines staff, milk is delivered to Delhi on a daily basis.

Breast milk contains antibodies that help your baby fight off viruses and bacteria. Breastfeeding lowers your baby's risk of having asthma or allergies. Plus, babies who are breastfed exclusively for the first 6 months, without any formula, have fewer ear infections, respiratory illnesses, and bouts of diarrhea.
