Nanammal who is ruling the country with her amazing art, meet Karthyayini Amma whose willpower is astounding the internet. The 96-year-old who will enter class 4 next year is determined to study till class 10 under a government scheme. She has been enrolled in the district’s literacy mission programme which makes her the oldest student in Alappuzha, a city in Kerala. Yes, the state host lot inspiring stories.
The Secretary of the Cheppad Grama Panchayat with its literacy crew went for a state drive in January 2018 to achieve 100 percent literacy. The News Minute reported that when the team arrived at the government housing scheme, Laksham Veedu Colony, many aged women shied away to avoid the literacy programme. But Karthyayini Amma stood to enrol. But in the same report, it has revealed that the 96-year-old began to dream when she saw her 60-year-old daughter, Ammini Amma successfully clearing the literacy mission’s course. This stirred her, and she decided to study. She learns Math that includes learning multiplication tables up to 3 and mastery over Malayalam alphabets.

The literary mission course is equivalent to class 10 in the formal education system. She inspired many at her village and over 30 aged residents enrolled for the same programme. In respect to her age, Karthyayini Amma is tutored at her house. Her grandchildren too help her in studying. Nothing can pose as an obstacle to anyone if you are determined to achieve the goal. Karthyayini Amma stands as an inspiration to many!
