Nothing gets away from the eyes of the social media, not even an eye roll! Days after Malayalam actors Priya Prakash Varrier and Roshan Abdul Rahoof's charming eye antics went viral like anything, it is a Chinese reporter who is making headlines. A disbelieving reaction in the form of an eye roll caught on national television has become a light-hearted discussion on social media.
Her expressed spread so much so that netizens have started creating parody versions of it. Chinese social media site, Weibo is filled with memes and video of Liang Xiangyi's eye roll.
While Lian works for the financial news site Yicai, the woman she rolled her eyes on camera is Zhang Huijun, a reporter for U.S.-based American Multimedia Television. The video going viral on social media shows Lian looking at Zhang while she asks a long question to the officials from China's State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission.
This is what Zhang Huijun asked in Chinese:
"The transformation of the responsibility of supervision for state assets is a topic that everyone is concerned about. As the director of the State-Owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, what new moves will you make in 2018? This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Reform and Opening-up Policy, and our country is going to further extend its openness to foreign countries."
"With the One Belt One Road Initiative, state-owned enterprises have increased investment to countries along the route of One Belt One Road, so how can the overseas assets of state-owned enterprises be effectively supervised to prevent the loss of national assets?"
"What mechanisms have we introduced so far, and what are the results? Will you please explain this to all of us? Thank you." While Liang looked at the reporter with a neutral face in the beginning, towards the end she rolled her eye out of disbelief.

Watch some parody eye rolls:
According to a leaked WeChat conversation published by WhatsonWeibo, a colleague at Yicai informed Liang that the moment was broadcasted live. Liang's responded to her dramatic eye roll saying, "Because the woman next to me was being an idiot." Meanwhile, the Chinese state-run media has censored the videos of the incident. Internet censors have also blocked searches for Liang Xiangyi’s name.
