A 33-year-old mother has been cleared of all charges of abuse despite having sex with a 14-year-old boy at a birthday party twice. The woman claimed that she believed the boy was over 18 years of age. Kimberly Abell, from Longford seduced a teen boy after she got drunk at a birthday party of another boy in 2016. The court heard that she had downed half a bottle of vodka and also some shots before she started teasing the boy for sex. The boy's mother had reported to the police and the woman was arrested. She was charged for having sex with the teenage boy twice. But after a trail, she has been pronounced as non-guilty of both the charges. Although she admitted to having sex with the boy twice, she also mentioned that she believed he was over 18. She also admitted to the police that she had half a bottle of vodka and half a bottle of Disaronno liqueur and some shots. She then began touching the boy sexually and when he tried to leave the room, she asked for sex. In a record, the boy has said, "I sat back on the sofa and she got on top of me. She wasn't wearing her pants. She unzipped my jeans. We were doing it for a few minutes. Then I took her off me and went upstairs." The woman also admitted what she had done to the boy's mother. The prosecutor of the case Steven Bailey told the jury, "The law says it's illegal to have sex with someone under 16 if you do not believe they are 16 or over. There is no dispute that they had sex." He further mentioned, "That's not what this case is about. The allegation is that she did not reasonably believe he was 16 or over." The jury after 5 hours pronounced that she wasn't guilty. It is indeed surprising that the woman has gone scotfree.
