Call them crazy, these courageous individuals set themselves on fire to enter a new world record for full body burns. 32 professional stunt people gathered in Cape Town, South Africa and gradually were all set on fire which reportedly broke the record for the Most people performing full body burns. And yes, they were successful to enter into the Guinness Book of World Records. The rules for this terrifying record said that they had to endure fire for 30 seconds and organisers promoted the event stating it something fun. These 32 flaming participants walked together in a line and once they were finished, they fell on the floor to be extinguished by the helpers.
It was organised at the Grand Parade by Kevin Bitters, Grant Powell and Veron Willemse from Paradigm Shift Special Effects, to promote their performer’s talents. The aim was to “get a group of like-minded people with world-class skill sets and experience together for some fun.” Surprisingly, these stunt performers broke the Guinness World Records for the immediate full-body burns.

Keeping the fun and adventurous fact aside, precautions were a huge concern and the organisers have monitored the event well. Fireproof costumes and gel that were used during the performance, were repeatedly tested before the final attempt and each participant were shadowed by a helper to ensure safety and health during and after the challenge. Earlier to this, the record for Most people performing full body burns was achieved during an event at Ohio, United States of America on October 19, 2013. “Most people performing full body burns stood at 21 and was achieved during an event at the Hotcards Burn in Cleveland, Ohio, USA on 19 October 2013,” states Guinness World Records.
