Kids at school do get mischievous and some end up getting hurt too. But an 11-year-old girl from Toronto had a bizarre accident that might give you chills. A sharpened pencil stuck in a girl's neck after she fell on it while playing. The girl was immediately rushed to the hospital as the pencil stuck in her artery. If she hadn't received medical treatment just in time, she could have even lost her life, since the blood flow to her brain was cut off after being blocked by the sharp object. The girl, whose identity has not been revealed, was playing at the school during break time. She somehow fell down on a sharpened object in such a way that it directly struck the left side of her neck. An ambulance was called in immediately and she was rushed to The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario, with the pencil still in its place. The pencil was sticking out from the side of her neck. The CT scan revealed it had pierced into her left common carotid artery which stopped the blood going to her brain. The doctors were able to remove the pencil and the girl got a discharge two days later. The girl was given blood thinners and antibiotics before the doctors headed for an operation to remove the object. The young girl was placed on a three-month course of blood thinners post-operation and had to go to regular appointments for years to heal the wound.
