The festival is observed on the second Friday of the month of Sravana (July-August) or the Friday before the full moon day (Pournami) in this month, as per the Hindu lunar calendar. This year it will be observed on August 25. The main purpose of Varalakshmi Vratam is to seek the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi for the well-being, prosperity, and happiness of the family.
