England ended day one’s play in the first Test at 263 for three. Captain Joe Root scored his 20th century to lead from the front. He was well assisted by opening batsman Dominic Sibley, who scored 87. Jasprit Bumrah scalped two wickets for India while Ravi Ashwin chipped in with one.
