Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan, a hot-spring hotel in Japan, is the oldest hotel in the history according to the Guinness Book of World Records and has been existing since 705 A.D. The inn is located at the foot of the South Japanese Alps in Yamanashi Prefecture and has all of its hot water directly sourced from the hot spring. The inn was founded by Fujiwara Mahito 1300 years ago and has been taken care of by all the 52 descendants of Fujiwara Mahito.
About 130 miles west of Tokyo, the hot spring hotel is still open for business, offering serene accommodation, kaiseki meals and free Wi-Fi along with the naturally heated hot spring water that first drew visitors to the area. Over the centuries, it has grown quite a guest list, including everyone from highest-ranking politicans to samurai. The reason could be the major attraction - the hot springs - which has been there from day one.
