Tambdi Jogeshwari Ganpati History
The origins of the temple are believed to date back several centuries, with some sources suggesting that it may have been established as early as the 17th century. The temple is named after the presiding deity, Lord Ganesha, who is often referred to as Tambdi Jogeshwari due to the idol's distinctive reddish hue. Legend has it that the idol was discovered by a local woman while she was washing clothes in the nearby river. She noticed the idol's reddish glow in the riverbed and brought it to the attention of the villagers. This miraculous discovery led to the establishment of the temple. By Train: The nearest railway station to Tambdi Jogeshwari Temple is the Pune Station. From the station, take a rickshaw or taxi to the temple. The temple is about 2 kilometres from the station. You can also take the Pune-Miraj train and get off at the Vadgaon Budruk railway station. From this station, it is a 10-minute walk to the temple.
By Road: Once you reach Pune city, take the Pune-Satara Highway and drive towards Vadgaon Budruk. The temple is located about 15 kilometres from Pune city. There are also several buses that ply from Pune city to Tambdi Jogeshwari Temple. The buses stop at the temple bus stop. You can also directly drive down to the temple if you own a private vehicle.

The temple is open from 7:30 am–1 pm and 3:30–10 pm night. Being one of the most revered temples dedicated to Lord Ganesha, it is always flooded with a crowd of devotees. Therefore, the best time to visit the temple is believed to be in the afternoon, around 4 pm.
