Whenever one travels out of their nation, they at least try to get along and explore the local culture. Now Amsterdam has launched a rather unique campaign which lets you honeymoon in the city and you don't have to be legally married too! Yes, the Untourist Guide to Amsterdam which was launched earlier this week, gives the tourists a chance to marry a local for a day and the couple can take a honeymoon trip across the city! 5D Porn Theatre in Amsterdam! In a bid to get more tourist and local interaction and getting people together this campaign called "Marry an Amsterdammer for a day" was launched. The tourist has to bid for a listed bride or groom and a mock wedding ceremony is held here. The bids start from €100.  The ceremony has everything fake, from the flowers to the rings exchanged. The couple walks down the aisle and seals the deal with a hug instead of a kiss. Followed by the fake wedding, the couple can take a one-day honeymoon tour through the unexplored parts of the city.

At the launch, mass fake weddings took place at the Posthoorn church near Central Station this week. The local bride or groom then has to take their 'newly married' partner through the city, the quieter places which do not see crowds of tourists flocking. What's even better, is that the family member and friends of the tourist can also join along, the condition being the bid money covers all the expenses. A part of this money is also given to a charitable organisation that can be chosen by the bride or groom. From Chile's Easter Island to Iceland's Fjadrargljufur Canyon; Here's How 5 Popular Tourist Destinations Are Dealing With Overtourism.

This initiative is one of the ways of tackling overtourism in the region. It is a part of the Untourist Movement, which aims at changing the tourism in the region for the better.  The founder of the shop Wed and Walk, which turns into a makeshift chapel for these fake weddings told The Guardian, "The idea is that tourists not only feed on the city but can also build a connection with people who live here." Local businesses and the city's marketing organisation have come together for this campaign. Well, this is indeed an innovative way to get a honeymoon tour across the city, even for a solo traveller. It will also contribute to the economy and a part of it will be given to charity.
