The director of the festival Jospeh Mitchell was quoted to Broadway World, "The 2018 Moon Lantern Parade was a great success as a feature event of OzAsia Festival. The increased site capacity with road closures on King William Street ensured that many more people were able to enjoy the atmosphere. This year, the parade kicked off with the popular Hong Kong Dragon and also introduced 23 brand new lanterns. About 1,000 community members were involved in the parade which is one of Adelaide's most popular family friendly events." This event celebrates the Chinese culture along with Adelaide's multicultural community. It is a day-long event with several music and entertainment workshops for everyone.

Making of the lanterns for the parade is also an important factor. Lantern artists work thoroughly to create larger patterns. The people then preserve these lanterns until the next year. The idea of the fest is to create awareness and celebrate the multicultural existence in Adelaide.
