List of Long Weekends in 2020 in India
January
The New Year 2020 definitely starts on a good note and if you are seeking a good break to start your year with, then the start of the month itself offers a good long break from January 1 to January 5. January 1 which is a New Year's Day holiday falls on Wednesday. The festival of Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti is falling on January 2. If you manage to take a leave on January 3, Friday, then you can get enjoy a good break until Sunday.
February
There is one long weekend in the second month of the year from February 21- February 23. The festival of Maha Shivratri will be celebrated on February 21 which is a Friday. It is a restricted holiday so you will have to check with your workplace list of holidays, to enjoy the three-day break.
March
A very important festival of Holi falls in March, which is a time to squeeze in a short break. Holi will be marked on March 10, which is a Tuesday. If you can manage to take a break on Monday, March 9, then you can take a holiday from March 7 to March 10.
April
April is a good month with two long breaks in here from April 2- April 6 and April 10 to April 14. April 2 marks a holiday for Ram Navami, which is a Thursday. If you take a leave on Friday, then you can enjoy a break till the 6th of April. Besides, April 10 would be a holiday for Good Friday. If you can take a leave on the following Monday ie April 13, then you can enjoy a holiday till April 14, which is an off for Ambedkar Jayanti.
May
The first of May, labour day which is a definite holiday falls on Friday this year. So you can enjoy a break from May 1 to May 3 with the following weekend. The second long weekend in May is from May 23 to May 25. The festival of Edi-ul-Fitr will be marked on Monday, May 25 this year.
June
You may not be able to enjoy on good monsoon trips or at least the start of monsoon as there is not a single long holiday in June 2020.
July
Unfortunately, there is no long holiday in the month of July as well, so you will have to manage on just the weekend trips in July.
August
With no long weekends in the last two months, August starts with a long weekend. The festive occasion of Raksha Bandhan will fall on August 3, which is a Monday. So this month begins with a three-day holiday. If you can take leaves on two days August 13 and August 14, then you can enjoy a week-long holiday in this month from August 12 to August 17 which marks the celebration of Parsi New Year. Also, another important celebration of Onam falls on a Monday of August 31. If you get that holiday then you can enjoy another short break from August 29- August 31.
September
We advise you to utilise all your long weekends of August because there are no such breaks in September.
October
Gandhi Jayanti on October 2 will fall on a Friday, so you get a long weekend. On October 29, Eid-e-Milad will be marked. It is a Thursday, if you can get a holiday on the following Friday, then the month end of October is also a long weekend.
November
The festival of Gurpurab which is a holiday in many parts of the country will be celebrated on November 30, Monday. So you will have a long weekend from November 28- 30.
December
The festival of Christmas falls on Friday so you can definitely have a nice end to your 2020 before you actually take a leave for December 31st again.
