1. Galveston, Texas

In June 1865, the reading of General Order No. 3 in Galveston marked a significant moment in US history. 2. Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas

The campaign to recognise Juneteenth as a national holiday began in Fort Worth, led by activist Opal Lee.
