With this, the hill station has once again gained the title of being the wettest places on Earth. Mahabaleshwar received a collective rainfall of 17,655.8 mm during the last week. Since July 31, the average rainfall recorded in the hill station has been 252 mm. Mahabaleshwar has been witnessing one of the wettest times this August. After Matheran, one of the places where people escape to feel closer to nature is Mahabaleshwar. The place is known for its gorgeous sunsets, tall hills, yummy strawberries, pristine rivers and its exciting trekking trails among many others. City people continue to flock the nature's beauty around the year. However, travel to Mahabaleshwar was cut off as roads leading to the place was terribly affected by floods and landslides. People who were visiting the place during the weekend were stuck in traffic for long hours. People have been advised to stay away from the affected areas until the problem resolves.

Since June 1, Mahabaleshwar has recorded 5,486 mm rainfall when compared to 5,346 mm in Cherrapunji. Another hill station Tamhini Ghat which is located 30 km north of Mahabaleshwar has received a maximum rainfall of 5,959 mm from June 1 to August 6.
