Daydream

As the name suggests, daydreaming is usually experienced during the day and is possible at any kind of setting. It can last from anywhere from half to one hour. It is more like a trance phase that allows your subconscious thoughts to find its spotlight. You usually remain semi-awake while you daydream and the dream usually starts with a memory, fantasy, your imagination or a compelling thought.

Nightmares

Probably the worst kind of dreams is nightmares. These scary dreams are extremely powerful and can have postpartum effects on you. This is the most unconscious form of dreaming wherein you don't realise you are dreaming, unlike lucid dreaming and daydreaming. Your mind processes everything as if it was real and that is why it has severe effects on your nervous systems sometimes. It is said that nightmares bring out your internal fear and vulnerability and children are more prone to this.

Lucid dreaming

This is one of the most complex forms of dreaming wherein you can actually control whatever you are dreaming and it usually occurs in your REM(Rapid Eye Movement) phase of your sleep. You can partially control various aspects of your dream. People usually lucid dream to fulfil their deep desires.

False awakening dreams

These can become one of the most chilling dreams wherein you dream that you have wakened up and are going ahead with your life. Your brain will present a very exact representation of what your day usually seems. It happens when your mind takes some time to differentiate between dreams and reality. The realisation that you are not dreaming can take even about 20 minutes sometimes.

Recurring dreams

Sometimes when we think a lot about something either in our conscious or subconscious mind, it turns into a dream the continues to feature in your dream. It can be anything or anywhere but the pattern of the dream somewhat remains similar.

Premonitions

While these kinds of dreams do not have any scientific evidence, many people have confessed to having a premonition. In such dreams, you see a part of something that hasn't happened in your life but will happen at some point. It can be a major or a minor part of something that may happen in your future life. However, it can also be a mere coincidence.

Dreams can be of various types and some of which you may not be able to remember or understand. It is important that you don't stress over something you have dreamt of and is bothering you.
