Mumbai, Aug 11: A partial solar eclipse or Surya Grahan will take place today when the sun will appear to be obscured by the moon’s shadow. As per the Indian Standard Time (IST), the partial solar eclipse will start at 1:32 pm and end at 5:01 pm. Sutak has already begun before Surya Grahan. This will be the last eclipse to be seen in 2018. Indians won't be able to witness the partial solar eclipse but can watch live streaming of the celestial event online.
Partial Solar Eclipse (Surya Grahan) in August in India: In order to watch solar eclipse or Surya Grahan, one needs several equipments. A telescope with proper filters or a pinhole camera is a must to watch the solar eclipse. Unfortunately, NASA is not hosting live streaming of today's partial solar eclipse. Today's partial solar eclipse will be visible only in remote parts of the world. Therefore, people residing in areas over which the eclipse will play out can witness the event.
Today's partial solar eclipse is likely to play out over northern Canada, north-eastern US, Greenland, Scandinavia, most of Siberia, and some parts of central Asia. To the people in these areas, do not attempt to watch solar eclipse with your naked eyes. During an eclipse, undue radiation of ultraviolet and infrared light disperse into space. Therefore, to avoid such exposure, viewers should wear special solar eclipse glasses.
