Two high-profile couples, Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja and Meghan Markel and Prince Harry are all set to marry in the month of May along with the engagement of Isha Ambani with Anand Piramal. 2018 is on its way to become the ultimate wedding of the year. From surprise announcements to the Royal Wedding, the year boasts of it all. The year began with us waiting for the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to be held on May 19 but were pleasantly surprised by a string of engagements and following wedding date announcements.
First up is big fat Punjabi wedding of Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja on May 8. The year’s most opulent wedding or shall we say weddings will take place in India’s wealthiest family, Mukesh Ambani. The daughter of Reliance Chairman Industries Isha Ambani got engaged to Anand Piramal recently. Earlier in the year, her twin brother, Akash Ambani had proposed marriage to Shloka Mehta in a grand engagement ceremony. There’s another marriage ceremony that is most likely to take place by the end of the year is that Bollywood powercouple, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. We take a look at all these lovely couples who are ready to say, ‘I do’ and happily live ever after (read: take saat pheras for saat janam)!
1. Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja Wedding - May 8
She is A-listed Bollywood actress while he is an entrepreneur with sharp business acumen. What bonds them is their absolute love for fashion. After playing hide-and-seek with the fans and public for years over their relationship status, the families confirmed the two to be getting married a week before their May 8 wedding date. The mehandi function took place on May 6 followed by sangeet ceremony at May 7. The traditional Sikh wedding ceremony of Anand Karaj will take place at 11 am on May 8 followed by a splendour reception party on the same date in evening. Voila!
2. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry 'Royal Wedding' - May 19
It was a blind date for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle set up by a common friend. And, it was enough for destiny to bring the two together. In November 2017, an official announcement about their engagement was made. The wedding date fixed for the Royal Wedding is May 19, 2018 (yeas, it is just days away before Meghan walks down the aisle and marry Prince Harry).
3. Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal Wedding Date to Be Decided
Isha Ambani, daughter of India’s billionaire business tycoon Mukesh Ambani is engaged to Anand Piramal, son of industrialist Ajay Piramal. The couple themselves are successful individuals with Isha being a board member in Reliance Jio and Reliance Retail while Anand is the Executive Director of Piramal Group, a global business conglomerate and the founder of Piramal Realty. The 33-year-old Piramal scion had proposed to Isha at a temple in Mahabaleshwar and she nodded with a blushing yes. While the wedding date remains undecided, reports suggest the wedding to take place in December before Isha’s brother Akash’s wedding (Yes, he is also engaged to be married this year)! 4. Shloka Mehta and Akash Ambani Wedding Date to Be Decided
On March 24, Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta, daughter of diamantaire Russell Arunbhai Mehta got engaged in Goa. Before the official confirmation, the rumours were abuzz about 26-year-old Akash in a relationship with 27-year-old Shloka and it turned out to be all true. A lavish engagement bash was hosted by Mukesh Ambani that saw who’s who of business and cinema world attend it. 5. Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh Wedding Reportedly in December
They are rumoured to be dating since 2013 when the first paired up for Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela, they tease their fans by dropping the biggest hints but have never directly confirmed their relationship. However, if reports are to go by, Ranveer and Deepika are all set to tie the knot in December. Their families have met and locked on few dates for the wedding, but we got to wait for the official confirmation.
From Bollywood to Business to Royal Wedding, 2018 sees it all. Are there any more celebrity weddings that you would wish to take place this year?
