Sex Query of the Week: Can You Get Pregnant If You Have Unprotected Sex During Periods?
Not only do condoms protect unwanted pregnancies but also help prevent different kinds of STDs and STIs.
Q. I am a 21-year-old media professional from Delhi. I have been living in with my boyfriend for the past few months. We are sexually active. While we use condoms most of the times, I had unprotected sex during my last period. I was told that sex during periods is safe and I shouldn't worry about getting pregnant. But my periods were to have come three days ago, and still, there's no sign. I am worried sick because I read that a woman can get pregnant at any time of the month. Is there any chance that I can get pregnant? Sex Query of the Week: How Can I Increase My Penis Size Naturally?
Ans. We would advise you to get a pregnancy test done because while the chances are low, there is still a chance that you might get pregnant even though you had sex during your periods. Sperm can live inside your body for two, three days and sometimes even up to 5 days so there may be a chance that could get pregnant, especially if you had sex towards the end of your bleeding. That is because there is a probability that you actually conceive 4 or 5 days later with your early ovulation. However, there isn't much to be worried about as odds of getting pregnant while on your period are quite low, but the potentialities aren't nil. Nevertheless, it is always advised to get a pregnancy test done at home just to be sure.
Unprotected sex is never advised, not even during periods, unless you really want to get pregnant. Not only do condoms protect unwanted pregnancies but also, it does help you prevent different kinds of STDs and STIs. Condoms are always the best bet.
