Want to get an instant face lift without any expense? All you need is your hands and you will achieve the result. Wondering what we are talking about? It is the latest Instagram sensation that the 'it-girls' are obsessed with - the 'migraine pose'. This Insta-pose is exactly how it sounds and now scroll through your feed and you'll be able to notice it. The trend was started and coined by LA-based celebrity make-up artist Nam Vo.
'Migraine Pose' involves posing with one or two hands pulling your face up by your temples as if you had a, well, migraine. The reason why it's trending is because the pose tightens the face, makes your cheekbones look more prominent and lifts the brows. It is just a temporary lift for the gram. But many have criticised the trend calling it 'insensitive'.
Nam Vo Doing the 'Migraine Pose
"I love it because the beauty of your hands frame the face and give it more structure. I always make my models pose this way," Vo told Elle.com. "It's also a great time to show off your manicure." However, outraged migraine sufferers have slammed the term claiming it mocks those who suffer from the condition.
After Nam Vo posted the picture, netizens criticised her for using the hashtag 'migraine pose'. One user wrote, "This 'migraine pose' is ridiculous!! Why involve your makeup with such a horrific disease. I get 1 to 3 migraines a day and this pic is an insult. Get real!!" While others asked her to rather raise awareness about the disease and requested her to take the post down using the hashtag #takeitdown.
Later, Nam Vo shared another post, apologising her fans, by writing: "{EDIT - Hi my Dewey Dumplings, my apologies. This wasn't meant to be offensive or hurt anyone's feelings. I am touched by the personal stories that you have all shared. I love all my Dumplings and want you all to be happy and healthy!}" But the post was still not taken down and users didn't really accept the apology.
