Megadeth had planned a world tour celebrating the band's 35th anniversary.
American heavy metal band Megadeth's lead singer and co-founder Dave Mustaine has been diagnosed with throat cancer. The musician took to social media on Monday revealing about his condition. With the medical treatment in the process, Mustaine said Megadeth will have to cancel the majority of their 2019 performances. The metallic band were planning open musical performances at the state fair on August 9. The Illinois State Fair runs from August 8 to August 18. Summerfest which has been handling Megadeth's current tour said that that the concert at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater to be held on July 4 has been cancelled due to the band's first lead guitarist is suffering from throat cancer. On Megadeth's website, Dave Mustain writes, "I've been diagnosed with throat cancer. It's clearly something to be respected and faced head on - but I've faced obstacles before. I'm working closely with my doctors, and we've mapped out a treatment plan which they feel has a 90% success rate." The band is currently working on a follow-up to their 15th studio album, Dystopia, released in 2016.
Fans who bought tickets for the concert through ticketmaster.com or through the Ticketmaster mobile app will receive a full automatic refund on the card they used to make the purchase. People who purchased tickets through the Illinois State Fair over the phone over in-person will have to fill a form and submit a cancellation refund form with the tickets attached to them. The form can be obtained at the Illinois State Fair box office or online at IllinoisStateFair.info.
