This Pee Device at Rs 10 Will Help Women Use Public Toilets Without Any Hygiene Worry!
Two IIT-Delhi students have created an affordable solution with a pee device. It allows a woman to pee while she is standing.
The state of public toilets in the country is unhygienic, to say the least. Sometimes there is no water, other times there is a lot of stink due to lack of cleanliness. The ones along the highways are dilapidated and it is a plight for women to not have the basic facility of relieving themselves. Considering the saddening situation, two IIT-Delhi students have created an affordable solution with a pee device. It allows a woman to pee while she is standing. Harry Sehrawat and Archit Agarwal, students of textile engineering at IIT-D came up with Sanfe, a pee device and it is priced at just Rs 10.
The third-year students had visited several public loos across the city to understand the plight of the situation for women wanting to use them. "71% of public washrooms are not cleaned on a regular basis, and women suffer from immense difficulty as they have to sit every time over the toilet seats while peeing and get infected by the germs and infections over the toilet seats," they were quoted in a report. Take a look at Sanfe's Facebook Post:
They developed Sanfe, a biodegradable device and asked their female friends to use it to test the results. "The main technique behind Sanfe is that it eliminates body contact with toilet seats. It is compact enough to be carried in a purse and can be disposed of easily after one use," Sehrawat told DNA. They began working on it 6 months ago and faced a major problem to create a size that will fit everyone. With the help of their professor in ergonomics, they were able to create a product which can be used by everyone. It is indeed a brilliant idea of making public washrooms accessible for the women. The pee device is priced at Rs 10, also makes it is reasonable for everyone. Sanfe is currently available in pharmacies around Delhi and should soon come to other cities as well. It is also available online.
