SHOCKING! Woman Undergoes Surgery Under Torchlight in Bihar!
The surgery is most likely also not conducted by a qualified person.
A shocking video in which a woman was being operated upon under torchlight has been doing rounds. The viral footage shows a seemingly sedated woman on the operating table surrounded by people. Media reports suggest that the incident took place in Sardar Hospital in Saharsa district of Bihar and a power cut was cited to be the reason why the staffers were conducting the surgery under torchlight.
Preliminary reports suggest that the woman was wheeled into the hospital after a road accident. While further details are awaited, another shocking thing is that the person who is seen operating is wearing khakis instead of a medical apron, which suggests he may not be a surgeon. He could be a ward boy or a hospital help who may be standing in for the surgeon.
It raises two important questions. One, why isn’t a hospital equipped with something as basic as a power generator. Second, is the person conducting the surgery really a doctor? Cases of medical negligence in the country are increasing day-by-day. A patient in Khagaria was operated upon in mobile phone light a few days ago. In December, Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh was in the news for conducting eye operations of 32 patients under torchlight. And just last week, an accident victim’s head was propped up using his own severed leg instead of a pillow.
